The safeskin project for vaccine testing

Our sophisticated skin models are already being used for safety testing of vaccines including the new advanced mRNA vaccines.

We worked with the pharmaceutical company SANOFI, to create the world's thickest artificially created skin with the layers of:

Epidermis
Dermis (with immune system cells)
Hypodermis
Muscle layers

This model is now available for sophisticated skin testing over the longer term. It is also being developed towards more defined clinical development models.

We also carry out vaccine screening on full ex vivo skin, and individual immune cells and specific skin derived cells, to investigate safety and compatibility.
